The Gold Cup – Classic, Performance & Supercar Auction

Lot 4

1969 Triumph TR6
***NO RESERVE*** Just one former keeper, Over 20 years of cherished ownership

Registration – ROJ 207G

Chassis No. – CP258340

M.O.T. – Exempt

Odometer – 19,988

Introduced in 1969, the Triumph TR6 quickly established itself as one of Britain's definitive sports cars, combining handsome Michelotti styling with robust engineering and the performance of Triumph's renowned 2.5-litre straight-six engine. Today, genuine UK home-market fuel-injected examples remain amongst the most desirable variants of the model, particularly the early 150bhp CP Series cars, which are widely regarded by enthusiasts as offering the purest and most exhilarating driving experience of the TR6 range.

Presented in striking Signal Red with a black interior, this genuine UK home-market 150bhp CP Series fuel-injected TR6 is a particularly honest and well-preserved example. The vendor informs us that the car has had just one former keeper, with the current lady owner retaining and cherishing the vehicle for over 20 years. Such long-term custodianship is becoming increasingly rare and is reflected throughout the accompanying documentation.

The odometer currently displays 19,988 miles. The vendor informs us that the recorded mileage is supported by an exceptional history file documenting the vehicle's life over many decades. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves as to the recorded mileage and accompanying documentation prior to bidding.

Accompanying the vehicle is what the vendor describes as an exemplary history file, setting this TR6 apart from many examples currently available on the market today. The comprehensive file contains an extensive collection of historic MOT certificates, numerous maintenance invoices, ownership records and supporting correspondence, together with its original-style continuation V5 registration document. The continuity of the documentation provides an impressive record of the car's long-term ownership and maintenance and represents substantially unbroken provenance throughout its life.

Being a genuine 150bhp CP Series UK home-market fuel-injected example, this TR6 offers the specification most enthusiasts actively seek. The fuel-injected 2.5-litre straight-six engine, coupled with a manual gearbox, delivers the engaging performance, distinctive exhaust note and unmistakable character for which the model has become renowned.

The exterior presents extremely well, complemented by bright chrome work and attractive alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin offers a classic British sporting ambience featuring a burr walnut dashboard, wood-rim steering wheel and black trim. The car is also supplied complete with its tonneau cover, making it equally suited to touring, classic motoring events and weekend enjoyment.

The vendor informs us that examples offering this combination of exceptionally low ownership, long-term custodianship and such comprehensive provenance are becoming increasingly difficult to find. If you are searching for a TR6 with an exceptional history file, substantially unbroken provenance and documentation that follows the car throughout its life, this example deserves serious consideration. Ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian, it represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest documented examples currently available on the market.
