The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 1

1976 Triumph Saint Prototype
**NO RESERVE**

Registration - NVT 6P

Chassis No. - CN69080

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 16,792

This interesting machine was apparently one of eight or nine such Triumphs supplied new to the Merseyside Police in 1976. Unadorned with the normal high visibility markings they were, however, issued with prototype-related registrations, and ‘NVT 6P’ stands for Norton Villiers 6th Prototype. After only 18 months on the force they were all sold to renowned dealer Bill Smith Motors, who then fed them into the public domain, and it is believed five of them are still on the road today. The twin-cylinder bikes had their capacity increased from 650 to 750cc and were equipped with discs rather than drum brakes. The one on offer has remained within the family of a former Triumph Owners Club chairman for over 40 years and is believed to have been featured in Motorcycle News around 1982. Unstarted for the last four years, the Triumph will now need a degree of recommissioning, but is currently considered by the vendor to have a ‘good frame, suspension, paintwork, brightwork and cycle parts, and ‘average’ engine and gearbox. It comes complete with a degree of paperwork, and maybe even the original police panniers, which are currently being sought by the family.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.
