‘JGC965T’ is an incredibly distinctive, one of one, MKI Scirocco. Painstakingly built by the previous owner, ‘JGC 965T’ will likely be well known in Volkswagen show circles and has previously featured at the Tatton Park VW show and on the cover of their program. Based on a 1979 Scirocco GLS donor car, the previous owner relied on parts from various cars to arrive at this bespoke creation. The principle of ‘JGC965T’s’ build is based on the “tucked and shaved” approach of distilling a show car down to its essence. The car was in its builder’s possession for over 14 years and has been owned by its current keeper since August 2024. With ‘JGC 965T’ now being classified as an Historic Vehicle based on its age it is considered MOT exempt and zero rated for road tax in the UK. As such it is ready to turn heads of the show circuit immediately.

‘JGC 965T’ is the most incredibly eye-catching example of a MKI Scirocco that you are ever likely to come across. Its bright yellow livery is just part of the allure of this remarkable show car. There is the car’s stance, for example, with ‘JGC 965T’ designed by its builder to ride as low as possible without proving difficult to use. This heavily stanced is further emphasised by the oversized, gold centred alloy wheels and their accompanying stretched rubber. It’s an amazing combination. The interior is an absolute masterpiece of minimalization. The shaved floor along took the builder over 400 hours of labour to diligently plug every factory aperture and relocate every pipe and wire. As a result, it is left visible for all to marvel at. The seats are aftermarket; black fixed buckets and the other switchgear and instruments are Scirocco items from various donors. The minimalisation even extends to the deletion of any visible ignition barrel or key with starting being achieved by a combination of existing, previously unused switchgear. Bodywork, paintwork and interior are all rated as “good.”

Mechanically, ‘JGC965T’ features a 1,400cc Volkswagen engine which looks tiny in the shaved engine bay further adding to the “less is more” ethos behind the build. A supercharger from a G40 Polo is fitted and the gleaming little unit in this pristine bay is topped off with a finned, alloy Volkswagen Motorsport cam cover. Deeply impressive. The vendor rates ‘JGC 965T’s’ electrics as “excellent,” and the engine and transmission as “good.”

In summary:

  • A one of one, well-known Scirocco show car built to an extremely high standard
  • A fastidiously planned and executed concept employing “tucking” and “shaving” methods
  • MOT exempt and zero rated for road tax and, hence, ready to show immediately
