An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 101

1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello
Warranted 9,000 miles from new

Registration - V960 ETA

Chassis No. - ZFFZR49C00016997

M.O.T. - November 2023

Odometer - 9,568

The blue-piped Crema-coloured seats of this lovely Tour de France Blue Maranello look as though they’ve never been sat on and, with a warranted 9,568 miles under its wheels to date, it’s clear that this particular prancing horse has led a pretty sheltered existence. The accompanying original bill of sale tells us that it was purchased new on September 30, 1999 from Olympic (Exeter) Ltd by a Dr S Sekhon of Wentworth, Surrey for £140,000 – the bill included a Fiorano pack (£1,770.00) and seat piping (£330). He retained the Ferrari until 2012 when it was bought by the current keeper via classic and performance car specialist William Loughran. The car’s very modest mileage is confirmed by its MOT history and it is being sold complete with a selection of service invoices, the most recent of which was issued by Stratstone Ferrari of Wilmslow, Cheshire. The bill of £11,860 included a cam belt change and is dated August 27 2020, since when the Maranello has driven just 85 miles! The vendor of this almost as-new 550 currently rates its V12 engine, six-speed manual gearbox, and coupe bodywork as ‘excellent’ and the paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’. He is now offering ‘V960 ETA’ complete with factory-fitted sound system, full leather-bound tool kit and a comprehensive file of invoices and other paperwork, including a current MOT certificate valid to November 9.

Ferrari’s 550 Maranello was introduced as a replacement for the F512 M in 1996 and found much acclaim during its five years of production. It featured a 484bhp front-mounted naturally-aspirated 5.5 litre V12 engine driving the rear wheels through a transaxle – the six speed manual gearbox being located at the rear for optimum weight distribution. Suspension was by double wishbone, coil springs and anti-roll bars all-round and the braking by ventilated discs front and rear. The Pininfarina designed all-alloy body was mounted on a tubular steel chassis. A pukka GT car out of the Daytona mould, it offered speeds of up to 200 mph coupled with the ability to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds

In summary:

  • A genuine two-owner, 9,568-mile example
  • Comprehensive history file including invoices and current MOT
  • Most recent service carried out just 85 miles ago!
