1993 BMW 318i Cabriolet
Desirable Manual gearbox, complete with hard top

Registration - L220 XLM

Chassis No. - WBABA52050EJ36236

M.O.T. - October 2023

Odometer - 76,500

This smartly-presented BMW offers the best of all worlds by coming with both hard and soft tops. Its silver bodywork is complemented by black leather interior trim and BMW alloy wheels shod with Michelin tyres. The 11-keeper car has remained within the same ownership for the last nine years and the vendor these days views the four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual gearbox as being in ‘excellent’ condition and classes the convertible bodywork, paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’. He is now offering the cabriolet for sale complete with a brand new battery, Kenwood radio/CD player, immobiliser, original tools and a history file containing a selection of invoices and old MOTs etc, plus a current certificate valid to October 10. The odometer currently stands at 73,548.

Now in its seventh generation, BMW’s 3 Series is an automotive phenomenon and unique among the world’s executive expresses. Since succeeding the 2002 model in 1975, it has generally accounted for 30 per cent of the company’s annual car sales, is the bestselling car in its class, almost as well known in America, Asia and Australia as it is in Europe, and has frequently outsold much cheaper rivals. The model’s second incarnation, the E30, took to the roads in 1982. During its 10-year production run it could be purchased in no less than five body styles – two and four-door saloon, five-door Touring and two-door convertible. Temporarily dropped in 1985, the 318i reappeared in 1987 sporting a new SOHC powerplant. Suspension was independent all round by MacPherson struts, lower wishbones and coil springs at the front and semi-trailing arms and coil springs at the rear. Steering was by rack and pinion.

In summary:

  • A well-presented 11-keeper, 73,548-mile example
  • Equipped with both hard and soft tops
  • Comes complete with new battery, big history file and current MOT
