The Bolesworth Castle November 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 11

2015 Mercedes SLK200 AMG Sport
A genuine two-keeper, 35,950 miles example, complemented by full service history

Registration - HY15 JYP

Chassis No - WDD1724482F103431

M.O.T. - March 2024

Odometer - 35,950

Here we have a genuine two-owner SLK that’s accumulated a relatively modest 35,950 miles from new. Its striking black bodywork is paired with Sand-coloured hide interior trim and the Benz rides on five-spoke AMG alloy wheels. The car was purchased by the vendor from Mercedes-Benz Milton Keynes six years ago, and was last serviced as recently as September this year. He informs us that ‘HY15 JYP’ ‘has been well looked after throughout its life’, and that ‘all the electrics work and the retractable roof is on-the button’. He currently considers the 1.8-litre turbocharged engine, six-speed automatic gearbox and upholstery to all be in ‘excellent’ order, and the bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’. He is now selling the SLK complete with original emergency tyre inflator pack, full service history, handbooks, and a selection of invoices and old MOTs, plus a current certificate valid into March next year.

Mercedes-Benz’s SLK was introduced in 1996 as a competitor for the Porsche Boxster and BMW Z3, and was among the first models to feature an electro-hydraulic retractable hardtop. The first generation examples (codename R170) were manufactured until 2004, when they were superseded by the substantially revised R171 model. This longer wheelbase model brought many updates including: sharper styling; a galvanised, stiffer bodyshell; two-stage airbags; a faster-folding retractable roof; fabric wind-blocker; and a new line-up of engines from a supercharged in-line four-cylinder unit of 1.8 litres to a normally-aspirated V8 of no less than 5.4 litres. The third and final generation of the SLK, the R172, reigned from 2011 to 2020. The turbocharged 1796cc engine of the SLK 200 (1.8) model had an output of 181bhp – sufficient to allow the Benz to sprint from 0-62mph in c.7.3 seconds.

In summary:

  • A genuine two-keeper, 35,950-mile example
  • Comes complete with full service history and MOT into March 2024
  • The last service was carried out as recently as two months ago
