An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 117

1995 Aston Martin DB7 i6 Coupe

Registration - N866 THO

Chassis No. - SCFAA119SK100380

M.O.T. - September 2023

Odometer - 74,660

‘N866 THO’ was first registered in September 1995 and has had eight keepers to date who’ve amassed a total of 74,660 miles between them. Its metallic blue bodywork is matched to cream and blue hide interior trim and, in common with all but 529 fellow i6 coupes, the car’s straight-six engine drives through the optional four-speed automatic rather than five-speed manual gearbox. The vendor, who has owned the DB7 since 2015, currently considers the engine, transmission, bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to all be in ‘good’ order, and is now offering the Aston complete with radio cassette, operating manuals and a history folder. Entry into the world of Aston Martin ownership doesn’t come much more affordable than this.

The handsome i6 DB7 was built during Ford’s tenure of iconic British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin, and revived the nomenclature of the much vaunted and now highly collectable David Brown Astons of the ‘50s and ‘60s. The coupe version was launched at the Geneva Salon of 1993 and, as Ford also owned Jaguar at the time, it was based on a modified XJS platform. Though the memorable styling owed much to the stillborn Jaguar F-Type, the final look was crafted by in-house designer Ian Callum. Power came from a supercharged, Jaguar-derived straight-six unit of 3.2-litres capacity. The cars were built at a new factory in Bloxham near Banbury that had previously produced the Jaguar XJ220, and the engineering was sub-contracted to Tom Walkinshaw Racing. The body was pressed steel clad with moulded plastic panels and its luxurious interior was dominated by Connolly hide and walnut. Some 1578 i6 coupes had been produced by the time the model was supplanted by the V12 Vantage during 1999.

In summary:

  • Eight keepers and 74,660 miles from new
  • Comes complete with owner’s manuals and selection of paperwork
  • A late automatic transmission example
