This 1987 Yamaha TZR250, in pristine white and red, is a real beauty. The vendor says it has been fully rebuilt from the frame up, and its presentation really does confirm this – it is described as being in ‘excellent’ condition throughout. Registered in August 1988, ‘F528PJX’ has an odometer reading just over 10,600 miles. The vendor says that no service history will come with the bike, but adds that everything on this wonderful machine is OEM – original Yamaha componentry – apart from the aftermarket screen that helps with on-road riding comfort. Today, the Yamaha TZR250 is revered by motorcycle aficionados, particularly the breakthrough early 2MA versions, meaning this presents a rare opportunity to acquire a machine that really does look to be in immaculate condition.
The iconic Yamana TZR250 was offered between 1986 and 1995, and is already considered a bona fide modern classic. The two-stroke machine was inspired by the Yamaha TZ250 racer, boasting the Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS) that used a servo motor to raise and lower the exhaust port according to engine rpm. The Deltabox alloy frame was race-inspired too. With an ultra-short wheelbase, remarkably low weight and ultra-sharp steering geometry, it was a thrilling machine to ride and quickly developed a reputation as being the real deal – a proper race-inspired machine ready for road use. Excellent reliability and build quality are further draws for the brilliant Yamaha TZR250.
