Only 38,600 miles from new complete with service history handbooks and all past MOTs just stunning in every detail.

Registration - G202 VND

M.O.T. - October 2022

Odometer - 38,600

Period fast Fords are hot property these days, especially ones in such fine original condition as ‘G202 VND’. A three-owner 1990 two-wheel drive Sapphire, it is finished in the classic ‘Cossie’ colour of Moonstone Blue and trimmed in Grey cloth. Its indicated total mileage of just 38,600 is supported by the accompanying service history and every MOT from new. The car benefits from a considerable degree of recent maintenance, including: a new cambelt, head gasket, battery and steering bushes, as well as an oil and filter service. At some stage the cooling fan controls have been modified to improve the output. The vendor currently regards the bodywork, paintwork, upholstery, Cosworth YBB engine and five-speed manual gearbox as all being in ‘excellent’ order, and is now offering this very attractive Sapphire complete with owner’s manuals, service book, Ford workshop manuals, jack, wheelbrace and even the front seat lumbar support that’s yet to be removed from its delivery wrapper. As specialists in RS Fords we can say with confidence that they don’t come much better than this one.

Always quick to support the performance and motorsport markets, Ford introduced the be-winged XR4i in 1983. This was followed by the XR 4x4 in 1985, the Sierra RS Cosworth in 1986, the Sierra RS500 Cosworth in 1987, the Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth in 1988 and the Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4 in 1990. Thanks to cleaner aerodynamics, the Sapphire’s drag coefficient of 0.33 was superior to that of the of the original three-door cars, allowing marginally superior performance figures of 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. Some 13,140 examples were built at Genk, Belgium over the model’s short two-year reign.

In summary:

  • A superbly presented example that’s covered just 38,600 miles in the hands of three owners
  • Comes with all old MOTs from new, plus one valid to October 8 next year
  • Recent cambelt change and other maintenance
