November 2021 Classics Auction

  Lot 126

1975 MGB GT Jubilee

Registration - KVV 700P

Chassis No. - GHD5-378487G

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 87,200

The vendor describes this rubber-bumpered home market GT as ‘a good solid example’ that has had the benefit of a respray within the last 12 months. He adds that it’s never let him down and starts first turn of the key every time, and everything apparently works as it should, including the overdrive. The Jubilee stickers were removed for the repaint and have not been replaced. Various parts have, however, been recently renewed, including: the radiator, battery, clutch cylinders, points and ignition leads, and ‘KW 700P’ has also undergone a full service with a change of oil and both oil and fuel filters. Finished in British Racing Green and trimmed in black cloth, the car is presently considered by the vendor to have ‘good’ engine and transmission, and ‘average’ bodywork, paintwork and upholstery. It currently indicates an unwarranted but totally credible 87,200 total mileage from new.

The Jubilee edition of ‘everybody’s favourite sports car’ was produced in 1975 to celebrate 50 years of the MG marque. Each example was finished in British Racing Green complemented by Gold stripes and other detailing. The unique specification extended to: overdrive; MGB V8-style wheels; a large diameter three-spoke steering wheel; fully carpeted interior; and tinted windows. The anniversary run was ultimately limited to 751 MGB GTs, one MGB roadster, one MGB V8, and a solitary Midget.

In summary:

  • The subject of a respray within the last 12 months
  • Recently treated to a full service and a number of new parts
  • One of just 751 MGB GTs built to celebrate 50 years of the MG marque
