The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 126

1989 Chevrolet Camaro RS Cabriolet

Registration - F811 DOE

Chassis No. - 1G1FP31E5KL158409

M.O.T. - August 2022

Odometer - 45,555

This sleek pony car has had a lot of TLC lavished on it, and its low mileage – which averages out at fewer than 1,500 miles per year – is documented in the large stack of MOT certificates from new in the hefty history file that comes with it. It’s further underlined by the fact that the car had its last full service 2,000 miles ago – which was in 2018! ‘F811 DOE’ was delivered to the UK fresh off the GM production line in 1989 and the vendor assures us that it’s still immaculate, with £3,000 spent in the last two years alone on an interior retrim, new soft top, new oil pressure sensor and various switches, replacement heater and air conditioning blower and new AC Delco alternator. Further investment over the years has included new dampers and a stainless steel exhaust, which the vendor says sounds amazing, not least because it features a remote-control operated valve which can boost the noise; possibly not something to endear a new owner to the neighbours, as five litres of pure power fire up on the driveway, but definitely something to relish on the open road. Other attractive features include Boyd Coddington alloys, sports steering wheel, cruise control, electric windows and the original Chevrolet radio/cassette. The original GM immobilizer is in place with microchip in the key, and the vendor says that the car drives as good as it looks, with no squeaks, knocks or vibrations, the automatic gearbox operates superbly, and the overdrive works perfectly. The bodywork is also excellent. What’s not to like? You just need the British weather to cooperate so that the soft top can come down…

In summary:

  • Exceptionally low mileage, cherished pony car
  • Beautifully maintained, with extensive history file
  • Recent interior retrim, alternator and soft top
