An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 14

1955 Norton 30M Manx Geoff Duke Evocation

Registration - ETS 218

Chassis No. - TBC

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 520

This splendid replica of Geoff Duke’s last racer has been created by a fully qualified engineer who once owned the original bike, which now resides in a museum in Hockenheim. He based the evocation on a Reynolds frame very similar to the original, right down to its innovative oil-carrying downtube. The machine is comprised of as many genuine period parts as possible, including the forks that were purchased from a Bonhams auction. The only obvious departure from the bike Duke campaigned in the 1958/1959 seasons it’s that the current Norton engine is a 500cc one rather than 350cc. The much admired project was completed in c.2010, since when the motorcycle has occasionally been seen in public and travelled some 520 miles on the road, though none have been added since it was treated to a refresh in c.2013.

This superb tribute to one of Britain’s greatest ever motorcycle racers is now for sale complete with a selection of receipts, magazine articles and a letter from the Norton Owners Club praising the build. A unique opportunity for Manx Norton enthusiasts everywhere.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.
