The Bolesworth Castle November 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 14

2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet
Well-specified, five-keeper example and 83,100 warranted miles from new

Registration - LX53 GBE

Chassis No - WP0ZZZ99Z4S640901

M.O.T. - April 2024

Odometer - 83,111

This lovely 996 cabriolet has remained in the same ownership for the last 12 years, and had just five keepers all told. Its lustrous Midnight Blue Metallic paintwork is teamed with a Metropole Blue hood and Graphite Grey full leather interior trim, and the Carrera rides on silver five-spoke 18” wheels shod with quality Michelin Pilot Sports tyres on the front and Pirelli P Zeros on the rear. Its 3.6-litre flat-six engine drives through the optional Tiptronic gearbox. The Porsche’s comprehensive specification, heated sports seats, Bose sound system for CD and radio, SAT/NAV, cruise control, Litronic headlights, and rear park assist. In recent times the rear brake discs and pads have been replaced, as have the front tyres. ‘LX53 GBE’ is now available to purchase complete with full service history (Porsche dealer plus one specialist) and a selection of invoices and receipts, plus a current MOT certificate valid to April 26, 2024. The presently indicated total mileage of 83,111 is supported by the service and MOT records.

Designed by Pinky Lai, the 996 series 911 was manufactured between 1997 and 2004, and is notable for featuring the first new chassis platform since the model’s introduction in 1963, and being the first variant to be powered by a water- rather than air-cooled engine. It replaced the popular 993 series from which only the suspension and six-speed manual gearbox were retained, be it in revised form. The newcomer was ultimately available in coupe, cabriolet and Targa guises and with a 3.6-litre flat-six powerplant that had an output of 320bhp, which was sufficient to propel the Porsche to 60mph in c.4.6 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 175 mph. There was the choice of six-speed manual or five-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The extraordinary story of the 911 is one of 60 years of development over design, that’s completely overcome the handling challenges created by the combination a light front end and a rear-mounted engine. It is extraordinary to think that it is now 46 years since Porsche itself attempted to replace the model with the very different 928, and yet it is still one of the cars to own, bar none.

In summary:

  • A beautifully-presented five-keeper, 83,111-mile example
  • Comes with full service history and a current MOT
  • Bose sound, heated seats and cruise control
