The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 14

2006 Jaguar XK Convertible
Only 40,000 miles

Registration - CE56 GCK

Chassis No. - SAJAC44P475BO8469

M.O.T. - June 2023

Odometer - 40,129

It is hard to fault the presentation of this lovely XK convertible. It is finished in the pleasing combination of Winter Gold metallic and a light tan hood and rides on a set of smart seven-spoke aftermarket alloy wheels, while the apparently immaculate interior features light tan hide upholstery and matching carpets. The odometer currently displays a low but wholly credible 40,129 miles from new and the vendor informs us that the XK is ‘fabulous to drive and very reliable’, and presently rates the V8 engine, ‘very smooth’ automatic transmission, convertible bodywork, paintwork and interior trim as all being in ‘excellent’ order. She is now offering the freshly-serviced Jaguar complete with service booklet, spare key and a current advisory-free MOT valid to June 9 next year.

Known internally as the X150, the second and final iteration of Jaguar’s 2+2 XK model first appeared in three-door coupe guise at the 2005 Frankfurt Salon, with the two-door convertible derivative debuting the following year at the NAIAS motorshow in Detroit. Designed by Ian Callum, the newcomer was notable for its bonded and riveted aluminium monocoque chassis and all alloy bodywork. Power was provided by a 4.2-litre version of the company’s proven AJ34 V8 powerplant and transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. Though both wider and longer than the XK8 (X100) it replaced, it was a full 200 lb lighter – a welcome change that resulted in improvements to both the performance and fuel consumption. Design cues that deliberately evoked memories of Jaguar’s glorious past included the D-Type-esque nose and centrally-placed grille badge redolent of the immortal E-Type.

In summary:

  • An immaculately presented apparently low mileage example displaying just 40,129 from new
  • Recently serviced and MOT’d
  • Rides on a set of smart aftermarket alloy wheels
