May 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 15

1960 Carlight 4-Berth Caravan

Chassis No. - 711178

With a history dating back to 1930, Carlight manufactured quality caravans for no less than seven consecutive decades. They were considered by many to be the Rolls-Royce of the breed and good ones are keenly sought by aficionados. This particular example hails from 1960, and is the product of a period-correct restoration that took four painstaking years to complete. Its keeper for the last 12 years has no hesitation in declaring the bodywork, green over Old English White paintwork and predominantly green interior trim as all being in ‘excellent’ condition. The attention to detail has to be seen to be believed, from the pretty floral curtains to the gas cooker and ornate pink lamp shades to the striped awning – the vehicle is simply immaculate inside and out. It would make an ideal base for all manner of shows, but with caravanning on the rise, such a splendid period home on wheels would surely make the perfect partner for a classic touring car.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.

Estimated at £10,000 - £15,000
