Lot 16

1955 Vespa 150

Registration - 816 XVX

Chassis No. - VL1T 9079

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 50,457

Clearly the subject of a restoration, ‘816 XVX’ is thought by the vendor to have been imported from Italy, as it was accompanied by some 2004 Italian receipts when recently purchased at auction. The Vespa has subsequently been UK registered, though an error on the V5C means a replacement document is currently awaited. We understand that the carburettor has just been stripped and ultrasonically tested by Mavericks, who also carried out a 60-point inspection of the entire machine and declared all major aspects to be ‘working correctly’. The odometer currently registers 50,457 kilometres (31,352 miles), and the vendor presently grades the engine, automatic transmission and suspension as ‘excellent’, the grey paintwork as ‘good to excellent’, and the brightwork and cycle parts as ‘good’.

The Vespa marque (Vespa is Italian for wasp) was originated by Piaggio as far back as 1946 and is now one of no less than seven two-wheeled vehicle brands marketed by the group. The concept of the Vespa scooter has changed very little over the years, during which an astonishing 19 million examples have been made.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale.
