Offered as an intriguing and increasingly scarce example of a mid-century military utility vehicle, this rugged 4x4 presents a rewarding opportunity for restoration or recommissioning. Acquired by the vendor circa four years ago as a project, it has remained largely untouched since, with plans for conversion to diesel power ultimately unfulfilled due to time constraints.

Of particular note is its original Ford flathead V8 engine, a highly desirable unit in its own right and one that enjoys significant following within the hot rod community. The vendor informs us that the engine will turn over and will run when fuel is introduced directly to the carburettor, indicating a strong foundation for mechanical revival. Retaining its utilitarian military character throughout, complete with canvas-topped cab and practical load bed, the vehicle offers both authenticity and considerable potential.

Vehicles of this nature, once a staple of military service, are now increasingly rare to find in such original and unmodified condition, especially when still equipped with their factory-correct powertrain. Whether restored to original specification, preserved in its current patinated state, or utilised as a basis for a period hot rod or specialist build, it represents an exciting and versatile proposition.
