The Triumph Daytona 955i appeared in 1999 as a renaming of the confusingly named T595 Daytona. ‘WJ51DGO’ is a fine looking example of the breed dating from 2001. ‘WJ51DGO’ has been in the present ownership for around six years, with the current keeper being the eighth to date. ‘WJ51DGO’ comes with a good service history and ample supporting paperwork including a long, advisory free MOT until March 2026. The Daytona and its Lotus designed triple engine helped establish the reborn Triumph’s reputation for its three-cylinder sportsters and is offered her with NO RESERVE.
The heart of the ‘WJ51DGO’ is its 955cc, 4-stroke, inline-triple, 4 valve per cylinder DOHC, liquid-cooled engine. With Lotus being a key contributor to the design, this unit originally produced an impressive 128bhp at a screaming 10,500rpm. The cast aluminium frame contributes to a dry weight of a little over 200kg making ‘WJ51DGO’ preeminent among early 2000’s sports bikes. A six speed transmission, rear monoshock, twin front disks and four piston callipers also feature. This cherished example of the Daytona has all its mechanical systems rated as “good.”
This fully fared sports bike looks eye-catching in its vivid blue livery with large 955i white decals. Forged alloy, three-spoke wheels are present, and the precision welded aluminium frame remains visible and is finished in silver. The twin headlamps set into the fairing and dark tinted screen lend ‘WJ51DGO’ a dramatic road presence. A recessed saddle, dropped bars and rear set pegs complete the sports orientated rider environment making it easy to duck below that tinted screen when required. Paintwork and rider environment are rated as “good,” with the bodywork as “average to good.”
