May 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 17

2002 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Colour Concept MK3.5
2 owners, only 45,000 miles since new

Registration - DC02 NTA

Chassis No. - WVWZZZ1EZ2K008164

M.O.T. - February 2023

Odometer - 45,500

Wow, here’s a head turner. ‘DC02 NTA’ is resplendent in a recently renewed coat of bright yellow paint that’s complemented by a seemingly unmarked black and yellow leather interior and silver-coloured BBS split rim alloy wheels. The Golf was first registered to an elderly lady on the Island of Jersey, where it remained until purchased by the vendor earlier this year, making it a two-owner car with just 45,500 registered miles to its name. The vendor has no hesitation in classing the 2.0-litre engine, five-speed manual gearbox, bodywork, paintwork and interior trim as all being in ‘excellent’ order, and is offering this very pretty cabriolet complete with tonneau cover, retractable wind-deflector, CD changer, heated leather Recaro seats and electric hood, plus a copy of the Jersey logbook, the original bill of sale, owner’s book pack and stamped service book. A lovely example of a rare model.

There was never A MKII version of the Golf Cabriolet, with the original Karmann-penned MKI remaining in production from 1979 to 1993, when it was replaced by an all-new design based on the MKIII platform. A further revision followed in 1999, when the MK III underpinnings were retained but the external styling tweaked to resemble the concurrent MKIV hatchback, saloon and estate – these versions are often referred to as MK3.5 cabriolets, of which the sale car is an example. The Colour Concept limited editions were made in very small numbers and just five colours – Flash Red, Salsa Green, Yellow, Jazz Blue Pearl Effect and Black Magic Pearl Effect. They featured colour-coded leather interior trim, 15 inch BBS Solitude wheels, electric windows, central locking and heated front seats.

In summary:

  • Just two owners and 45,500 miles from new
  • Benefits from a recent respray
  • Comes with tonneau, wind deflector and well-cared for electric hood
