1963 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Stingray

Here we have the perfect antidote Mr Musk’s contemporary contraptions – 5.3-litres of American muscle finished in the eye-catching combination of Riverside Red bodywork, red interior trim and a white hood. This particular lefthand drive C2 is powered is powered by the optional 340bhp version of Chevrolet’s 327ci small block V8 and drives though a four-speed manual transmission that’s topped by a Hurst shifter. ‘ALC 372A’ was imported to the UK in 1991 and purchased by the vendor in 2005 from renowned marque specialists Claremont Corvette of Snodland in Kent. It’s a matching numbers example that the vendor informs us ‘has been well cared for, retains lots of original features, drives well and looks fantastic’. He presently grades the powerplant and gearbox as ‘excellent’ and the two-seater bodywork, paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’. In recent times the ‘Vette has been treated to a variety of new parts, including: custom radiator, custom exhaust, battery, white wall tyres, and brake master and wheel cylinders. We understand that the pop-up headlamps operate exactly as they should and have been upgraded with H4 bulbs. The odometer of this exciting item of Americana currently registers an unwarranted 33,689 miles, and the car is now being offered complete with spare wheel, jack and wheelbrace, and two sets of keys. An owner’s manual and car cover are also available.

The C2 of 1963-1967 really set Chevrolet’s cash registers ringing and left us with arguably the most desired and collectable Corvette to date. Designed by Larry Shinoda, it featured a new ladder-type chassis penned by Zora Arkus-Duntov, the most significant aspect of which was the move from cart springs to independent rear suspension.
