The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 19

1947 BSA C11 250cc

Registration - VAS145

Chassis No. - XC1019353

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 10,264

This notably attractive BSA has remained within the same ownership for the last 15 years, during which it has always been garaged and treated to the odd bout of tinkering. The vendor informs us that ‘it works fine, but has not been ridden for about a year’. He currently grades the 250cc two-stroke engine, thee-speed gearbox, frame, blue and black paintwork, brightwork and cycle parts as ‘good’, and the telescopic fork front suspension as ‘average’. The C11 is now being offered complete with replacement key and (in-tank) speedometer, plus a modest history file containing maintenance manual, reproduction parts list and selection of old MOTs and tax discs. The C11 model was in manufacture from 1939 to 1956. Its 250cc OHV engine was a development of the C10 side-valve unit and the model was continually updated throughout production, with plunger rear suspension being added in 1951. Actor Steve McQueen is understood to have retained a 1951 C11 until his untimely death in 1980.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.
