March 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 19

1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI

Registration - T697 XAA

Chassis No. - CP9A-0105488

M.O.T. - August 2023

Odometer - 117,508 kilometres (73,016 miles)

To many eyes, Mitsubishi’s sixth generation Evo was the most dramatic-looking of all, and this well-presented example is certainly not lacking in street presence. It is finished in an eye-catching shade of metallic blue and trimmed in a mix of blue cloth and grey Alcantara, and is a Japanese domestic model brought to these shores by Rare Imports and first UK registered in 2016. The vendor informs us that it’s a completely unmodified example, that’s very much as it left the factory (aside of the rear suspension arms that have been replaced at some stage), and rides on period correct OZ alloy wheels shod with Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tyres all-round. He also regards the car as free of rot and rust and presently grades the turbo engine, five-speed manual transmission, four-door bodywork and paintwork as all being in ‘excellent’ order, and the interior as ‘good to excellent’. He is now offering this striking Mitsubishi complete with comprehensive Kenwood sound system, FET turbo timer, video of the underside, Japanese HPI certificate and a current MOT valid until August 17. The odometer currently stands at 117,508km (73,000 miles).

The Evolution series of Mitsubishi Lancers was in production from 1992 to 2016, during which no less than 10 generations were created. The model achieved rallying immortality thanks to ‘flying Finn’ Tommi Mäkinen, who drove Evos to victory in no less than four consecutive World Rallying Championships, the last of which was achieved aboard an Evo VI. This prompted the creation of a Tommi Mäkinen special edition, of which 4,092 are believed to have been created. The 2-litre turbocharged engine of the standard version, as fitted to the sale car, produced 276bhp – sufficient for a 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds and terminal speed of 140mph.

In summary:

  • A very tidy Japanese import that’s had just one UK keeper to date
  • A completely standard example displaying 117,508km from new
  • Comes with Japanese HPI certificate and current MOT
