The Bolesworth Castle May 2025 Classic, Performance & Supercar Auction

Lot 19

1999 Volkswagen Caddy
***NO RESERVE***

Registration – T96 YHO

Chassis No. – WV1ZZZ9UZXT002633

M.O.T. – July 2025

Odometer – 124,500

This collectable 1999 Volkswagen Caddy, offered at No Reserve, is an enthusiast-owned model that is described as a “nice example” with engine, transmission, electric and interior all stated as being in ‘good’ condition. The green body is complemented by a grey cloth interior, and it uses a 1.9-litre diesel engine – this has been fitted with new heater plugs so it “starts instantly and runs smooth”. The owner has serviced it regularly and has lots of paperwork to back this up. They fitted four new tyres last year, and carried out welding and repairs to the rear haulage area “to a very high standard to bring it back to its best”.

‘T96YHO’ was first registered in July 1999 and has had just two previous keepers. The fist owned it until 2004, with the second owning it until June 2015, when the current keeper acquired it. It has an odometer reading 124,500 miles, with HPI records showing this has built only gradually during the current keeper’s stewardship.

The Volkswagen Type 9U Caddy was introduced in 1996, to complement the 9K. It was the entry-level model, derived from the Skoda Felicia Utility (whereas the 9K was derived from the Seat Ibiza). It used either 1.6-litre petrol or 1.9-litre diesel engines, and combined a 530kg payload with a 2.0 square metre loading area. It was built in the Czech Republic and marketed as the entry-level pick-up in the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles line-up. Today, as with many retro VWs, it has something of a cult following amongst enthusiasts.

In summary:

  • No Reserve 1999 Volkswagen Caddy
  • Enthusiast-owned model described as a “nice example”
  • Just two previous keepers
