Finished in military-style matt green and retaining its purposeful, utilitarian character, this Lightweight presents as an appealing example of the marque’s long-standing association with the armed forces. The vendor informs us that, when acquired, the vehicle remained in camouflage colours, since refinished to its current subdued green appearance, which suits its character well.
Mechanically, the vendor advises that a number of improvements have been undertaken, including refurbished brakes and the fitment of a new clutch cylinder, offering reassurance for prospective use. The vehicle is understood to run and drive, and notably retains its original 24-volt electrical system, in keeping with its military specification. Further attention has been given to the exterior with the addition of replacement canvas tilt and door tops, while the vehicle retains a range of military-style features including internal framework and equipment fittings, all contributing to its authentic presentation.
We are advised that little is known regarding its specific service history, although interested parties may wish to approach the relevant owners’ club, who may be able to provide further insight into its origins and potential military use. The chassis plate remains in situ, and the overall presentation suggests a solid basis for either continued use, light restoration, or preservation in its current form.
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Lightweight variant was developed for military deployment, designed to be air-portable and easily serviceable in the field. Today, these models are sought after for their rugged simplicity and distinctive appearance, offering an engaging and practical classic with genuine historic appeal.

Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.

VIEWING

If you are unable to attend the auction in person, Hampson Auctions can offer condition reports via photographs and, dependent on technology/connection available, remote viewing via live video call.

BIDDING
If attending the event, please make yourself known to the auctioneer when you wish to bid on a lot, either by a wave or vocally if they haven’t seen you. Once an auctioneer has taken a bid from you, they will always come back to you if you have been outbid.

PAYMENTS
Payment for lots is required by 1pm the day following the auction and can be made by any form of cleared funds. Should payment not be received by then, any lot(s) will be taken into storage at the Buyer's expense.
COLLECTION
Removal of lots can take place once the auction has finished and up until 1pm on the following day. If you are unable to collect yourself, please speak with one of our team should you wish put in contact with our transport / storage partners site at the auction.

The Hampson Auction name is rooted in our heritage, first used at our Winsford headquarters in the 1980s, now returned in a modern format.
Extended viewing will be available for five days prior to the auction, with the sale conducted live at 12 noon on Sunday 26th April 2026.
Buyers benefit from seven days complimentary storage following the sale, allowing collection without immediate time pressure.
