‘D424 AFV’ represents one of just 1,038 special edition, run out 280 models produced by Ford. All 1,038 cars were finished in Brooklands Green Metallic leading to them be colloquially christened “the Capri Brooklands.” ‘D424 AFV’ is a highly original example of this limited edition Capri which has been cherished by nine previous owners. The current keeper acquired ‘D424 AFV’ in August 2021 and has rigorously maintained and improved the Capri ever since. ‘D424 AFV’ is offered here with an advisory free MOT until February 2026 and lots of accompanying paperwork and invoices. ‘D424 AFV’ is offered here with NO RESERVE.
All 1,038 Capri 280s shared the same high specification. This included eye-catching Brooklands Green Metallic paintwork, red and white pinstripes and special “280” decals. They were also fitted with a set of 15-inch, seven spoke alloy wheels of a design shared with the earlier Capri Injection Special. ‘D424 AFV’ exhibits all these key features and further benefits from a new windscreen fitted this year. The interior of the 280 was equally well specified courtesy of a full leather Recaro interior with contrasting red piping. In the current ownership these special seats have been refurbished by Buffalo Leathers of Preston and include new red piping. A new heater motor has also been fitted. The vendor rates the bodywork and paintwork as “average to good” and notes that, as this is the original finish, the Capri would benefit from a glass out respray. The interior is rated as “good.”
The Capri 280 featured the 2.8-litre Cologne V6 with fuel injection as originally fitted to the Granada. This was originally rated at 160bhp an mated to a five speed manual gearbox. For the 280 a limited slip differential was also fitted making this the ultimate and last of the production sporting Capris. The vendor notes that OEM exhausts are fitted to the Capri and that the underside is well maintained benefitting from a de-scale and protective treatment in 2024. New disks, pads and refurbished original callipers have been fitted and the steering rack was removed and refurbished last year also. All mechanical facets of ‘D424 AFV’ are rated as “good.”

BIDDING

PAYMENTS
Payment for lots is required by 1pm the day following the auction and can be made by any form of cleared funds. Should payment not be received by then, any lot(s) will be taken into storage at the Buyer's expense.
COLLECTION
Removal of lots can take place once the auction has finished and up until 1pm on the following day. If you are unable to collect yourself, please speak with one of our team should you wish put in contact with our transport / storage partners site at the auction.
