March 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 20

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII
UK supplied car with full service history

Registration - RG03 EVO

Chassis No. - CT9A-0206625

M.O.T. - October 2023

Odometer - 74,796

The first thing to say about this tidily-presented and suitably spectacular-looking Evo VIII is that it is not a grey import, but a genuine UK specification example that’s had just four keepers from new and currently displays a very reasonable total mileage of 74,796 miles. However, its specification is now far from standard, and the many performance-enhancing modifications include: carbon fibre spoiler, side skirts, front splitter and bonnet vent; Mishimoto intercooler; Apexi induction kit; Evo IX GT turbo; HKS super dragger exhaust; a remap by Evo specialist Dynotech to give 330bhp at low boost and 400bhp at high boost; Turbosmart 14psi actuator; Walbro 255 fuel pump; 3-port solenoid; Eibach lowering springs; resonated de-cat exhaust (the vendor has retained the original); Enkei GTC-01 alloy wheels (the original rims are included in the lot). The vendor presently grades the powerplant as ‘excellent’ and the six-speed manual transmission, bodywork, silver paintwork and black/blue interior trim as ‘good’, and is now offering this decidedly exciting proposition complete with new Brembo brake discs and pads, the original spare wheel and tool kit, full service history, and a current MOT valid to October 8. Not for the faint of heart!

The eighth generation version of Mitsubishi’s legendary Evo was in production from 2003 to 2005. Originally a single model range, it proved so popular in the US that a family of variants was ultimately evolved. All were powered by a version of the now familiar 1997cc turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine, but output varied considerably from country to country and special edition to special edition. Variants offered on the UK market included the 260 (260bhp), FQ300 (305bhp), FQ320 (325bhp), FQ340 (345bhp) and FQ400 (405bhp). The sale car carries a discreet FQ-300 badge on its bootlid.

In summary:

• A genuine UK specification, four-owner example

• Hugely impressive list of mods, resulting in up to 400bhp on tap

• Comes with full service history and an excellent MOT record
