Registration – Y89 HGY
Chassis No. – WP0ZZZ98Z1S601721
M.O.T. – February 2026
Odometer – 108,500
This charming 2001 Porsche Boxster, offered at No Reserve, is finished in the classic combination of silver with a black roof – just like the famous 1993 Boxster Concept. Registered in May 2001, it is a 2.7-litre model, an enhanced version of the original 2.5-litre flat-six version with 217bhp and 0-62mph in just 6.6 seconds. The vendor says the engine, transmission and electrics are all in ‘good’ condition, helped by ‘Y89HGY’s comprehensive service history. There is just one stamp missing in the service book – and even that has a receipt in the history as evidence it was completed. The MOT is valid until February 2026 and the odometer reads 108,500 miles.
The vendor reports that the roof isn’t currently operational as the bracket on the driver’s side rear has snapped. It is an easy and inexpensive fix with a Porsche specialist, but they were unable to get this sorted before the auction. The electric motor on the roof works absolutely fine, and this only happened days before it was consigned to the auction.
The vendor notes the car has a desirable upgraded roof with glass rear screen, plus premium Michelin tyres. The later-spec smoked rear lights work really well with the silver paintwork. The suspension has been fully replaced – that’s arms, M030 springs and Bilstein dampers – and it has been polybushed too. The longitudinal brake lines have also been replaced. With just minor bodywork marks here and there, this is an honest and very presentable car offered at No Reserve.
After the beautiful concept car wowed the world in 1993, the Porsche Boxster was introduced in 1996, becoming the first mid-engined two-seat Porsche roadster since the classic 914. Codenamed 986, it was closely related to the upcoming new water-cooled Porsche 911 996, and quickly gained kudos as a result. Porsche continued to develop it with regular model year updates, with this 2001 model benefitting from many of them – not least the well-rounded 2.7-litre engine.
In summary:
· 2001 Porsche Boxster offered at No Reserve
