Representing one of the finest evolutions of Subaru’s legendary Impreza WRX STI, this Litchfield Type 25 – Build No. 21 is a superbly prepared and much-cherished example that has been in the vendor’s ownership for the past thirteen years. The Type 25 was Litchfield’s ultimate interpretation of the Japanese-built WRX STI, hand-finished in Gloucestershire and uprated in every respect to deliver performance, refinement, and reliability beyond the factory specification.

Originally conceived as a limited production run of around 100 cars, each Type 25 was individually numbered and engineered to exacting standards. This particular example has been maintained and enhanced regardless of cost, with comprehensive mechanical improvements centred around a fully rebuilt Cosworth-block engine carried out by Subaru specialist Roland Alsop. The engine has covered only 45,000 miles since completion and now produces an impressive 430 BHP, aided by a new LM450 twin-scroll turbocharger, forged rods and pistons, Tufrided crankshaft, lightweight flywheel, equal-length manifold headers, and large breather box. Further upgrades include an Exedy XD twin-plate clutch, RCM fuel pressure regulator, parallel fuel lines, oil cooler, alloy radiator, and Milltek sports-cat exhaust system.

A G-Link ECU fitted by Enginetuner (Plymouth) allows remote tuning and diagnostics via Wi-Fi, with functions such as launch control and anti-lag readily configurable. Transmission specification includes the six-speed DCCD wide-track gearbox, new MSD and LSD plates front and rear, new bearings and fluids, and upgraded aluminium anti-roll-bar mounts with Whiteline suspension components. Stopping power is supplied by K-Sport six-pot calipers with braided hoses, while fully adjustable AST 4000 coil-over suspension provides adjustable ride height and rebound control.

The cabin features the signature STI blue/black Alcantara trim, auxiliary Stack gauges for boost, oil pressure, fuel pressure, and oil temperature, and an Alpine audio unit. Additional features include HID headlamps, sump guard, Corse alloy wheels (with spare winter set), and original Type 25 carpets. Security is covered by a Thatcham alarm, immobiliser, and Scorpion Tracker system.
