The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 21

1935 BSA Y13 500CC

Registration - YXS 133

Chassis No. - E15/104

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 00020

If motorcycles could talk, there is no question that ‘YXS 133’ would have plenty to say, as its accompanying documents show it to have been first registered to the war office. The vendor informs us that at a later stage it belonged to a member of the army, was exported to Gibraltar and then repatriated, still on its original registration plate. And, also included in the file is an advert from June 24, 1976 in which the BSA was being offered as an unfinished restoration for the sum of £300 ONO, including spares, by somebody based at the Catterick army camp, North Yorkshire. This splendid motorcycle has been in the hands of the vendor since December 2018 and is these days resplendent in black, with no remaining evidence of its military past. He describes it as being in ‘very good condition, but not concours’, and currently grades its 500cc V-twin engine, four-speed gearbox, frame, suspension, paintwork and cycle parts as being in ‘good’ condition. It comes complete with all the above mentioned documents, plus an original card logbook and tax discs from 1959 and 1974. History on wheels!

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.

Estimated at £26,000 - £28,000
