This example of the seminal 1980’s and 1990’s hot hatch hero is an interesting example indeed. As a 1994 model ‘M710YRN’ is a very late example of this model which ceased production in April of that year. As a top specification, run-out model, ‘M710YRN’ was originally supplied to the Japanese Domestic Market via the Peugeot dealership network. As such ‘M710YRN’ features much sought-after factory power steering and air conditioning – a must for comfortable road use today. ‘M710YRN’ was also originally supplied with an automatic gearbox – an option for Japan – but was converted by marque specialists, Pug 1 Off, with a reconditioned and updated manual gearbox, improved gear linkage and clutch. With just one previous UK owner, ‘M710YRN’ has been pampered since October 2021 by the current experienced engineer owner. Complete with a current advisory free MOT valid until May 2026 and a Japanese mileage verification document, this rare hot hatch hero is ready to enjoy immediately.
‘M710YRN’ presents in one of the rarest model colours of Mayerling Green which was reserved exclusively for the run out models. These accompany the correct 1.9 GTi, 15-inch Speedline SL299 alloy wheels and the familiar rear quarter panel 1.9 GTi scripted panels. The interior is a period-correct delight with the deeply bolstered sports seats upholstered in the green hued flecked fabric with black leather bolsters. It’s a well equipped GTI, too, with manual sunroof, and that aforementioned air conditioning and power steering. The bodywork and paintwork are vendor rated as “good,” and the interior as “excellent.”
Mechanically, ‘M710YRN’ has wanted for nothing, either. A new cambelt has been fitted in the last month together with a new water pump, PAS pump and air conditioning compressor. New leads and plugs have been fitted, and the brakes have been fully overhauled. The engine, transmission and electrics are all rated as “excellent.”
