A true slice of American muscle car history, this 1979 Pontiac Trans-Am Firebird presents beautifully, having benefitted from a full body respray around eight years ago and a host of mechanical upgrades since.
Imported to the UK in 2014, this example is equipped with the desirable and rarer 6.6-litre V8, known as the Pontiac 400 engine. It has undergone a professional rebuild, during which it was fitted with a mild camshaft upgrade, enhancing both performance and the signature V8 soundtrack.
The car’s suspension has also seen a full overhaul, with upgraded performance-rated springs, struts, leaf springs, body bushings, and track rod arms, providing a more planted and responsive driving experience. A bespoke, hand-made exhaust system complements the upgraded powertrain, offering a deep and purposeful tone.
Visually, the Trans-Am sits on striking 18-inch Year One billet alloy wheels wrapped in brand-new tyres. Inside, a modern Pioneer stereo system has been discreetly fitted to enhance driving enjoyment without compromising the car’s classic style.
