The Bolesworth Castle October 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 22

1991 Porsche 911 Carrera C2
Professionally converted to wide-body, speedster configuration

Registration - XVH 419

Chassis No - WP0ZZZ96ZLS423209

M.O.T. - August 2024

Odometer - 114,000

This exciting 964 Carrera started life as a standard C2 Cabriolet, but has been turned into a unique Speedster by a professional designer with a long-standing passion for 911s – in fact it is a Speedster, Targa and Coupe all rolled into one. Its creator purchased the rust-free Porsche after it had been categorised as a Category C insurance write-off following light damage to the front end. He then treated it to: a new front slam panel; long nose metal bonnet; composite wings and three-quarter panels with extra wide arches; duck tail spoiler with carbon engine grille; carbon sills, front splitter, diffuser and rear window, plus his own design of three-part carbon roof system that stores neatly in the rear of the car. The exterior effect was completed by: Hella LED head, tail and driving lights; 993 teardrop rearview mirrors, classic-style bumpers and a composite Speedster clam with carbonfibre inlay. His revised interior boasts re-sculptured 993 front seats finished in red and white vinyl; carbon door cards, door trim, cup holder, handbrake and dash trim; mobile phone holder; chrome instrument bezels; Blaupunkt 200 BT Series stereo that’s connected to a 600 watt Hertz amp, 8” base-box and six Audison speakers.

‘XVH 419’ is powered by a standard 3.6-litre 911 engine of 250bhp that exhausts through an (‘amazing sounding’) stainless steel Milltek system. Both the unit and its related G50 manual gearbox came from a 77,000 mile car with documented history and are ‘free of knocks, smoke and oil leaks’. The suspension features HR adjustable dampers. Braking is by standard 964 (Guards Red) calipers and discs, and this special Porsche rides on Fuchs split-rim chrome finish alloys shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres – 275/40x17 rear and 235/45x17 front.

The vendor confirms that the build has been carried out to ‘the highest standard’ and that the car’s alignment and wheel tracking have been checked and the geometry proved to be correct. He is now offering this fascinating one-off Porsche complete with some history and a current MOT valid into August 2024.

In summary:

  • A unique wide-bodied Speedster conversion
  • The subject of numerous modifications and upgrades
  • The shell was formerly declared a Category C insurance write-off
