  Lot 24

1951 Vincent HRD Rapide Series C

Registration - MKD 675

Chassis No. - RC/1/9330/E

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - TBC

This splendid Rapide was dispatched new from the factory to Liverpool dealer A. E. Reynolds on August 17, 1951, since when its apparently had just four keepers. The most recent custodian, a Vincent aficionado, purchased it from a friend in 1998, and its current condition results from a no-expense-spared restoration around 15 years ago, since when it’s travelled a mere 3,160 miles. The engine and gearbox were completely overhauled by Bob Dunn, with new parts fitted as required. Braking was improved by the fitment of ribbed drums, alloy back plates and Ferodo AM4 linings that were machined to fit. The front forks were treated to stainless steel spindles and fresh bushes and Koni dampers fitted to the rear. The Vincent rides on aluminium wheel rims shod with Avon tyres that were new at the time of the restoration. All the paintwork was carried out by renowned Vincent specialists C&G Finishes of Liverpool, the brightwork re-plated, and the seat re-padded and re-covered. The electrical system was converted from six to 12 volts. During its current ownership ‘MKD 675’ has been lovingly stored in a heated garage, well maintained, and started on a regular basis. This fine motorcycle is now being offered for somebody else to enjoy, and comes complete with a large history file containing the original buff log book, invoices and photos relating to the restoration, plus copies of the works build and testing sheets. A rare opportunity.
