The Bolesworth Castle November 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 25

2005 Subaru WRX STi
Tastefully upgraded and accompanied by full service history

Registration - FA05 AFF

Chassis No. - JF1GDBKH35G056923

M.O.T. - April 2024

Odometer - 118,000

A fine-looking 2005 specification STI, ‘FA05 AFF’ features striking metallic blue bodywork matched to blue and black cloth interior trim. Like most Impreza’s it’s able to boast a few modifications. These include an IHI VF34 turbo (fitted as recently as 18/10/22), bespoke exhaust system fabricated by JDM Motorsport, upgraded front splitter and tinted windows. The Scooby’s distinctive metallic blue paintwork is matched to blue and black cloth interior trim, and it rides on gold-coloured alloy wheels shod with Kumho PS71 high-performance tyres. The vendor informs us that the Impreza is a well cared for example that is accompanied by a full service history. This includes invoices from the likes of Roger Clark Motorsport, Cotton Competitions and JDM Motorsport, who carried out the most recent service 500 miles ago. The vendor presently grades the flat-four engine, six-speed manual gearbox and four-door bodywork as ‘excellent’, and the paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’. He is now selling the Impreza complete with factory audio system, tracker, alarm, pair of keys, over-mats, handbooks, history file and a current MOT valid to April 13 next year.

The Subaru Impreza (adapted from the Italian word impresa, meaning achievement) has been with us since November 1993, and was immortalized by the Prodrive-inspired run of WRC Constructors’ titles in 1995, 1996 and 1997, and Drivers’ championships for Colin McRae (1995), the late Richard Burns (2001) and Petter Solberg (2003). The model’s distinctive engine note stems from its four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine that has good inherent balance and makes for a low centre of gravity. The basis of the performance models has been the fourwheel drive, turbocharged WRX. In the late ‘80s, Subaru formed a division specifically to co-ordinate its motorsport activities; not least its assault on the FIA World Rally Championship. Dubbed Subaru Tecnica International (STI), it went on to create high-performance road-going derivatives of the WRX model, and the WRX STI remained the basis of the company’s rally programme from the time of its introduction in 1992.

In summary:

  • A very tidy and apparently well cared for example
  • The subject of a number of desirable performance upgrades
  • Comes complete with full service history and a current MOT
