November 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 26

1996 Toyota Celica GT4 ST205

Registration - N306 ANA

Chassis No. - JT164STL500009515

M.O.T. - July 2023

Odometer - 176,000

‘N306 ANA’ is finished in silver, trimmed in black cloth and rides on matt black six-spoked alloy wheels, and its profile is dominated by the sizeable rear spoiler that was standard equipment on this ‘homologation special’ model. The vendor informs us that the body was recently stripped and resprayed in its original livery and the door cards refurbished. He now classes the turbo engine, five-speed manual gearbox, coupe bodywork and paintwork as ‘excellent’ and the interior trim as ‘good’ – apparently the latter is only let down by one small mark on the driver’s seat. He adds that the electrics are all ‘good’ save for the radio failing to tune in, which appears to be an aerial-related problem. This purposeful ‘rice rocket’ is now offered complete with CD player and an extensive history file that includes a current MOT certificate that’s valid to July 28 next year. According to Experian Autocheck, there have been a total of just six owners to date, who have amassed a total of 176,000 miles between them.

The Celica GT4 was a high-performance version of the Celica Liftback model produced by Toyota from 1986 to 1999 in a total of three generations. It was created in order to gain homologation for the World Rally Championship and featured permanent fourwheel drive and a potent turbocharged 2-litre engine. The ST205 was the final iteration of the model that was manufactured from February 1994 to June 1999. It was the most powerful Celica produced to date, producing 239bhp in European specification. As specified by Toyota’s factory rally team, it featured an all-aluminium bonnet, four-channel ABS braking system, twin entry turbocharger and so-called ‘super strut suspension’.

In summary:

  • A striking example of a sought after homologation special
  • Recently stripped and resprayed in its original livery
  • Comes with extensive history and a current MOT
