May 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 28

2001 Ferrari 360 Modena
Only 18,000 miles. Classically finished in Rosso Corsa, Crema and Tan

Registration - VE51 ZFZ

Chassis No. - ZFFYR51C000121429

M.O.T. - TBC

Odometer - 18,506

Private plate not included. Actual registration to be confirmed.

This exquisitely-presented Ferrari has travelled just 18,508 documented miles to date. It was delivered new to its first keeper by Charles Hurst Ferrari. Equipped with the desirable manual gearbox, it is finished in the classic combination of Rosso Corsa bodywork, Bordeaux-stitched Crema leather upholstery and tan carpets. The Modena has remained in the vendor’s care for the last four years, during which time he has sat behind the wheel for just 1,500 miles but treated it to two services, during which the belts were replaced and everything brought up to scratch. The tyres were apparently replaced three years ago and the upholstery has been re-Connollised. Unsurprisingly, the vendor currently considers the V8 engine, gearbox, bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to all be in ‘excellent’ order and is only selling this almost as-new Prancing Horse in order to buy an alternative Ferrari. ‘VE51 ZFZ’ is now being offered complete with its service booklets and an array of invoices. An arguably unrepeatable opportunity for Ferrari enthusiasts everywhere.

Ferrari’s mid-engined, Pininfarina-penned 360 made its debut at the 1999 Geneva Salon and reigned from then until 2004, during which time some 8,800 Modenas, 7,565 Spiders and 1,288 Challenge Stradales vacated the gates of Maranello. Though to some eyes it was not that far removed from its much-vaunted predecessor, the F355, it was in fact technically far superior. Its all-alloy spaceframe chassis was no less than 40 per cent stiffer than the outgoing steel one, and 28 percent lighter despite an increase in overall dimensions. The sharp angles of the F355s body were replaced by notably graceful curves, while the new 3.6-litre flat-plane V8 engine was lighter and more powerful – the output of 395bhp was sufficient to power the new Prancing Horse to 60mph in only a little over four seconds, and on to a redline-limited top speed of 175mph. There was the choice of six-speed manual or six-speed ‘F1’ automated-manual transmission.

In summary:

  • An almost as-new example that’s travelled just 18,508 miles
  • Equipped with the desirable manual gearbox
  • Fully serviced and ready to enjoy
