‘AAZ 4483’ was first registered in October 2002, making it a relatively early production example. Its attractive metallic blue paintwork is matched to a black hood and dark grey leather interior trim. According to Experian Autocheck it has had five owners to date, who have between them totalled a not unreasonable 72,500 miles. The data also reveals that the Audi was last year designated a CAT N insurance write off, but it has clearly overcome whatever damage was involved, and is now described by the vendor as having ‘excellent’ engine, five-speed manual gearbox, convertible bodywork and paintwork, and ‘good’ upholstery.
The two-door cabriolet version of the A4 made its debut in 2002, finally replacing the Audi 80-based soft top that had been discontinued two years earlier. Like the Golf cabriolet, it was designed and manufactured by Karmann in Germany, and boasted an electro-hydraulic roof that could be lowered in under 30 seconds. There was a choice of powerplants, the one fitted to the sale car being a 2.4-litre V6 unit of 168bhp.
