  Lot 3

1997 Mercedes-Benz C180 Elegance
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - P596 NNF

Chassis No. - WDB2020182FS65332

M.O.T. - December 2023

Odometer - 126,500

The C180 saloon on offer was first registered in April 1997. It has had eight keepers to date, the most recent of whom, a declared Mercedes enthusiast, acquired the car in August 2020. It is finished in a pleasing shade of metallic green and trimmed in grey fabric. The vendor informs us that the Benz was serviced within the last 12 months, at which point the front discs and pads were renewed – the rear parts did not need replacing but a new set of pads is nonetheless included with the lot. He considers the car to have been ‘well looked after’ and presently views the four-cylinder engine, automatic transmission and four-door bodywork to be in ‘excellent’ order, the paintwork to be ‘good’ and the upholstery to be ‘average’. He had the Mercedes valeted in February and is now selling it complete with factory-fitted sunroof, Sony radio/CD player and a selection of old MOTs, plus one valid to December 10.

The first of what have so far been five generations of C Class (W202) cars from Mercedes-Benz entered production in 1993 as a replacement for the much admired 190 model. The saloon version of the newcomer was effectively the company’s entry level offering until the advent of the smaller and radically different A Class in 1997. Over eight years of manufacture the original C Class was available with a wide selection of petrol and diesel powerplants ranging from 1.8 to 5.4 litres in capacity. The car was of front-engine rear wheel drive configuration and dressed in either a four-door saloon or five-door estate body. In C180 guise, as per the sale car, it was powered by a 1.8-litre DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine of 120bhp, which was sufficient output to achieve a 0-62mph time of 12 seconds and top speed of 120mph. There was the option of manual or automatic transmission.

In summary:

  • An eight keeper, 126,500-mile example
  • Recently valeted, serviced and fitted with new front brakes
  • Comes with factory sunroof and radio/CD player
