This striking Studebaker Coupe presents in a distinctive light blue and black livery with contrasting red interior and whitewall tyres. The vendor informs us that the car was originally registered in South Africa and has benefitted from a restoration prior to its importation into the UK. A file of documentation accompanies the car, including South African registration papers, Studebaker Owners Club correspondence, and notes confirming the originality of its body and engine numbers.
The interior retains much of its period character, with red bench seating, matching door panels and factory-style instrumentation, all lending the car the charm and atmosphere of a 1940s American coupe. Externally, the brightwork is well presented and the overall condition reflects that of a cherished collector’s motor car.
Studebaker was among America’s oldest automobile manufacturers, having begun life as a wagon builder before turning to car production in the early 20th century. Known for distinctive styling and solid engineering, the marque offered models that stood apart from the mainstream, with the early 1940s designs now regarded as highly collectible. Survivors of this era are particularly rare in Europe, making this example a seldom-seen opportunity.
Rare pre-war Studebaker coupe with South African history
Attractive two-tone finish with red interior and whitewall tyres
