November 2021 Classics Auction

  Lot 30

1996 Triumph Daytona
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - N48 KYG

Chassis No. - SMTTC357DMT029304

M.O.T. - June 2022

Odometer - 28,773

‘N48 KYG’ was first registered in March 1996, since when it has accrued a total of 28,773 miles in the hands of eight owners. It was apparently last ridden in spring this year, so would arguably benefit from a degree of recommissioning, but does run and is said to ‘ride properly’. Due to being stored in a paintshop, the Triumph has apparently picked up a certain amount of overspray that will need to be polished off before it looks its best once again. The machine benefits from the fitment of a pair of Delkevic stainless steel silencers, which we are assured make a ‘fantastic sound’. All told, the vendor considers the triple engine, five-speed transmission, frame and paintwork to all be in ‘good’ order and is now offering the Triumph complete with receipts for work carried out, old MOT certificates dating back to 2000, plus a current one valid until June 22 next year. Surely a temptation at No Reserve.

Developed from the Daytona 750 but with more aggressive styling and superior performance, the Daytona 900 was produced between 1993 and 1996. Its micro alloyed high tensile steel frame was shrouded in a full fairing and powered by a bullet-proof 900cc version of Triumph’s much vaunted DOHC three-cylinder engine, that developed 98bhp at 9,000rpm and 59.9 lb ft of torque at 6,500rpm. The Daytona name was first used by the original Triumph company on the tank of a 500cc twin in celebration of the marque’s victory in the Daytona 200 race.

In summary:

  • Equipped with Delkevic stainless steel silencers
  • Will require some mild recommissioning due to lack of recent use
  • Comes with MOTs dating back to 2000
