The Bolesworth Castle November 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 30

1999 Ford Mondeo ST200 Estate
***NO RESERVE*** Thought to be one of just 15 ST200 load-luggers, still registered on UK roads

Registration - T954 JJC

Chassis No - WF0NXXGBBNXL06688

M.O.T. - May 2024

Odometer - 106,000

Here’s a fast Ford with a difference, a veritable wolf in sheep’s clothing, though the RSAP bodykit and athletic stance are a bit of a clue for those who know about such things. ‘T954 JJC’ is rare too, being one of what is believed to be only 15 ST200 estates remaining on our roads. Finished in Imperial Blue and trimmed in grey leather and cloth, the Mondeo apparently benefited from £3,960 worth of bodywork restoration in 2021. At a later date the brake pads and hoses were replaced, and within the last few weeks the leather upholstery has been reconditioned, a pair of new all-weather Yokohama tyres fitted to the front, and the air flow meter, offside rear brake caliper and power steering pump all tended to by performance specialist JamSport of Northampton. The vendor now considers the V6 engine, five-speed manual gearbox, five-door bodywork, metallic paintwork and upholstery to all be in ‘excellent condition’. The Mondeo comes complete with its original book pack, service book (10 stamps), selection of invoices and a current MOT valid into May next year.

The Mondeo replaced the UK’s Ford Sierra and Scorpio ranges in 1992, and was the company’s first so-called ‘world’ car, the design and marketing of which was shared between Ford of America and Ford of Europe. Unlike its predecessors, it was either front-wheel or all-wheel drive rather than rear-wheel drive. The design was distinctive and, following a fairly major facelift in 1996, continued in production until 2000. Its reign was notable for the introduction of a new brand for use on the flagship models. First up was the ST24 that had a go-faster look even though the output of its 2.5-litre engine was no more than that of its similarly-engined siblings. This was replaced in 1999 by the limited edition ST200 that boasted a 202bhp 2.5-litre SVT version of the Blue Oval’s proven V6 Duratec engine, and came with uprated suspension, RSAP body kit, 14-spoke 17” alloy wheels, Recaro half leather trim and digital climate control.

In summary:

  • Thought to be one of only 15 ST200 estates remaining
  • The subject of a considerable amount of recent maintenance
  • A very sporting, practical, affordable and collectable option
