The appetite for TVR’s unique brand of performance sports car remains undimmed, despite there being no new model since 2006. This very smart right-hand drive home market 350i hails from 1985, and is finished in an attractive deep shade of Italian Red that’s complemented by red-piped black leather interior trim. The car’s 3.5-litre Rover V8 engine drives through a five-speed manual gearbox and the odometer has so far clocked a total of 107,696 miles from new. According to the vendor, ‘B47 XWW’ ‘drives beautifully, while the engine packs a punch and sounds awesome’. The 350i has had a total of seven keepers to date, the previous one having retained it for 16 years, while the car benefited from a thorough engine rebuild and uprate at the 106,200-mile mark – ie only c.1,500 miles ago. It is now being sold complete with triple core radiator, braided brake hoses, and JP stainless steel exhaust system. Also, a comprehensive binder containing: its ownership history to date; the original handbook; the service book containing 15 stamps; a large collection of receipts; all past tax discs and MOTs, plus a current certificate valid until February next year. An eminently affordable opportunity for anybody seeking a classic convertible in which to enjoy the impending summer sun.
What was briefly called the Tamsin 350i broke cover in 1983 and was achieved by shoe-horning Rover’s venerable 3.5-litre V8 engine into the space previously occupied by Ford’s 2.8 litre one. Its 190bhp output was sufficient to propel the newcomer to 60mph in around 6.3 seconds and on to a top speed of over 130mph, or c.140mph in the case of this car with its uprated engine.
