May 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 32

1999 Ford Fiesta 1.25 LX
Only 9,000 miles from new

Registration - V174 FRJ

Chassis No. - WFOAXXBAJAXS30150

M.O.T. - September 2022

Odometer - 9,167

With just two private owners and a warranted total of 9,167 miles to its name, this exceedingly tidy fourth generation Fiesta represents a golden opportunity for anyone in search of an affordable car with lots of life remaining. Finished in red and trimmed in grey cloth, it is described by the vendor as being ‘in good condition and driving as it should’. He presently classes the 73bhp 1.25-litre Zetec-S engine, five-speed manual gearbox and upholstery as being in ‘excellent’ order and the bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’. The generous LX specification includes: air conditioning, body-coloured bumpers, central-locking, driver’s airbag, folding rear seats, front electric windows and a height adjustable driver’s seat. Very original and clearly well cared for, ‘V174 FRJ’ still boasts the front number plate and rear window sticker of its supplying dealer, Quicks of Northwhich, while the accompanying service book contains nine stamps, the most recent of which is dated September last year. They surely don’t come much better this.

Now in its seventh generation, Ford’s giant-killing Fiesta has amassed over 16 million sales since its inception in 1976, and frequently headed the UK sales charts. That was certainly the case with the fourth generation model, as per the sale car, that was in production from 1995 to 2002, and was the best-seller on these shores from 1996 to 1998 before being pushed of its perch by the all new Ford Focus. It was during this golden period that the new range of Zetec-S petrol engines was introduced, with the option of 1.25 or 1.4-litre capacity. There was the choice of three different passenger configurations – three and five-door hatchack, and four-door saloon – and a range of trim levels.

In summary:

  • Just two private owners and 9,167 miles from new
  • A clearly very well cared-for example
  • Comes complete with full service record
