A 1978 Vauxhall Viva HC four-door, offered at No Reserve this third-generation Viva L has a 1,256cc engine paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. ‘XMC215T’ is described as a “really nice example that drives really well”. Indeed, engine, transmission and electrics are all described as being in ‘excellent’ condition, with ‘good’ bodywork, paintwork and interior. The vendor adds the ‘baby blue paintwork is the original colour and is complemented by a grey and black interior.

Registered in August 1978, ‘XMC215T’ is tax and MOT exempt, but reassuringly has a current MOT that’s valid until September 2025. It “starts and runs perfectly” says the vendor, and has a collection of new spare parts in the boot. “It will make a great addition to someone’s collection.”

The original Vauxhall Viva, known as the HA, was introduced in 1963. It shared the same floorpan and engines as fellow GM partner brand Opel’s German Kadett A. However, a great pub fact is that Vauxhall used imperial measurements, while Open used metric, meaning that although they look similar, few parts are interchangeable. The Viva HB that quickly arrived in 1966 was another solely Vauxhall design, and moved the Viva up in terms of size and target market. The Viva HC was launched in 1970 and was mechanically the same as the HB but had an even roomier interior along with more modern styling. Notably, it became the final solely Vauxhall-designed passenger car when production ceased in 1979, making this car, which is offered at No Reserve, a great buy for collectors.

In summary:

· 1978 Vauxhall Viva 1300 L offered at No Reserve

· MOT exempt but has an MOT valid until September 2025

· “Really nice example that drives really well”
