The Bolesworth Castle September 2025 Classic, Performance & Supercar Auction

Lot 34

1991 Morgan Plus Four
Only two owners from new

Registration – J778 PRJ

Chassis No. – M8479

M.O.T. – August 2026

Odometer – 58,000

The vendor believes the gleaming Rosso Red paintwork of this 1992 Morgan Plus 4 is “the best colour,” and who are we to argue! Registered in January 1992, the original owner was a businessman who owned automotive retailer Oldham Reliants. This was his personal car, which he owned right up to 2018. Since then, it’s had just one more keeper, making this a genuine two-owner car with an odometer reading just 58,000 miles. Its glowing MOT history is creditable too, with the current MOT valid until August 2026.

‘J778 PRJ’ is, quite simply, in excellent condition throughout, says the vendor. It has received a fully refurbished body and paint, along with a brand new black leather interior – this was hand-made to the original Morgan specification but with a modern twist that includes contrast red piping. The 2.0-litre Rover M16 twin-cam engine has also been rebuilt. This 1992 Morgan Plus 4 comes with a tonneau cover and fold-down roof. The vendor describes it as a “superb example that will make a stunning addition to any collection”.

The Morgan Plus 4 has quite the lineage. The original was introduced in 1950 as a development of the existing 4/4. The chassis was strengthened and widened, and it had a longer wheelbase. It was powered by a 2,088cc Standard Vanguard four-cylinder engine. Body styles included two-seater and four-seater sports coupe, and the more luxurious drophead coupe (DHC). The original Plus 4 ran until 1969, was revived between 1985-2000 (it’s the series this car comes from), revived again between 2005-2020, and now an advanced new version based on a bonded aluminium chassis is available.

In summary:

· 1992 Morgan Plus 4 with just two owners

· Fully refurbished body and paint

· Brand new leather interior and rebuilt 2.0-litre engine
