There’ll be no missing this bright yellow 2004 Westfield SEiW kit car, built in 2004. Finished in rich yellow with black centre stripes and black Team Dynamics alloy wheels, it certainly cuts a dash. The vendors says they have owned it for five years, in which time it’s always been dry-stored. It also has a bulging folder full of history, detailing the care and attention it’s received over the years. Both engine and Ford Type 9 transmission are described as being in ‘excellent’ condition; the 2.1-litre Ford Pinto motor is fresh from an engine rebuild, with the bottom end 205 block coming fresh from Toovey Race Engines. It has 45 Weber carburettors, a Kent high-lift cam and vernier pulley. With Mahle big end, main bearings and pistons, plus an ARP rod stud and nut set, the engine would appear to have been been honed to perfection.

‘F514GNT’ also has an Omex ECU, plus a winged sump and Burton rocker cover. Bodywork, paintwork and interior are all described as being in ‘good’ condition. Inside, the Westfield has a full set of white-faced Smiths dials, and a race-style OMP steering wheel finished in Alcantara. TRS harnesses secure the driver and passenger snugly into the leather seats, and the vendor has even cleverly integrated a magnetic smartphone holder into the dashboard – ideal for route guidance on the move.

Westfield Sportscars was founded in 1982 in Kingswinford, West Midlands. It originally produced kit cars very similar in style to Caterham, which had bought the rights to the Lotus Seven. The threat of litigation saw Westfield change the design of its cars, with the glassfibre-bodied models evolving to gain innovations such as independent rear suspension, and a famous V8-engined model, called the SEiGHT. There was also the Megabusa, using a Suzuki Hayabusa motorbike engine. The SEi was one of its most popular models, which later gained a welcome wide-body version, called SEiW. Following insolvency in 2022, Westfield is now located in Bicester as a new concern called Westfield Chesil Ltd.

In summary:

  • 2004 wide-body Westfield
  • Always been dry-stored by the vendor
  • Expertly upgraded engine
