The Bolesworth Castle November 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 35

2011 McLaren MP4-12C
Finished in striking Papaya 'McLaren Orange' and just over 29,000 warranted miles from new

Registration - TBC - Plate going on retention

Chassis No. - SBM11AAC8CW000059

M.O.T. - March 2024

Odometer - 29,000 miles

The eye-catching orange paintwork of this handsome McLaren is teamed with black leather interior trim, while its graphite-coloured five-spoke alloy wheels are shod with appropriately high-quality Pirelli P Zerotyres. The key point of note is that this two-seater supercar has travelled just 29,000 warranted miles from new, and is presented in splendid order throughout, having spent the last two years in a suitably fine motor-house as part of a private Cheshire-based collection. The vendor currently regards the 3.8-litre V8 engine, automatic transmission, bodywork, paintwork and upholstery as all being in ‘excellent’ condition. He is now offering the car for sale complete with service book, owner’s manual and a current MOT valid to March 17 next year. The registration ‘NL10 MCL’ visible in the accompanying images will be placed on retention, and does not form part of the sale.

The MP4-12C is a are car. While no official production figures have ever been released, it is thought only c.3500 were made compared with say over 18,000 Ferrari 458s. Designed by Frank Stephenson, the McLaren was based around a one-piece carbonfibre tub and powered by a longitudinally-mounted twin-turbo V8 engine derived by the consortium of McLaren, Ilmor and Ricardo. The powerplant drove through a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox supplied by Graziano Trasmissioni, while the suspension was achieved by hydraulics rather than conventional springs. The rear-wheel drive newcomer was the first production car to be wholly designed and built by the Woking-based McLaren concern, and its first road car since the innovative three-seat P1. It first broke cover in September 2009 but didn’t enter production until 2011. Quoted performance figures vary, but suffice to say that the MP4-12C can sprint to 60mph in as little as 2.8 seconds and on to a terminal speed as high as 210mph. The model was replaced by the 650S in 2014.

In summary:

  • A handsome example of the relatively rare MP4-12C model
  • Just 29,000 warranted miles and seven keepers from new
  • Comes with service book, owner’s manual and a current MOT
