September 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 36

1979 Daihatsu Taft F50

Registration - CWC 402T

Chassis No. - 54940

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 84,950

The hard top Taft on offer was first registered in January 1979 and is attractively finished in mid green, trimmed in black vinyl and rides on white-painted steel wheels shod with Marshal Power Guard all-terrain tyres. There are some signs of corrosion, but there is little doubt that this enchanting little workhorse will be putting smiles on faces for many years to come. At some stage the battery has been rehoused where one of the rear seats had been, making this a five rather than six-seat version. Eminently usable and very practical, ‘CWC 402T’ is being sold complete with tow hooks front and rear, a pair of Ring auxiliary driving lights, radio and a selection of invoices and old MOTs. The odometer currently stands at 84,000 miles.

Somewhat similar to the Suzuki Jimny, Daihatsu’s Taft (Tough and Almighty Four-wheel Touring Vehicle) was produced in various forms between 1974 and 1984, predating the better-known Fourtrack by some 10 years. The initial F10 version was only offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine, but by 1977 it was possible to order one with a much torquier 2.5-litre diesel engine, which was dubbed the F50. The model was offered in soft or hard top guise and with the choice of four or six seats.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.

Estimated at £4,000 - £6,000
