  Lot 4

1959 Triumph Tiger Cub

Registration - 534 XVA

Chassis No. - T53663

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 18,492

Tiger Cubs surely don’t come much prettier than this lovely 1959 example. Finished in the smart combination of light blue and black, it is a notably clean example that’s registered with the Triumph Owner’s Club. It has remained in the same ownership since 2018, and the vendor has no hesitation in grading the single-cylinder engine, four-speed gearbox, frame, suspension, paintwork, brightwork and cycle parts as all being in ‘excellent’ order. It comes complete with a large collection of bills, receipts and old photos etc. Designed by the legendary Edward Turner and developed from the foregoing Terrier model, the Tiger Cub, or T20, was launched at the Earls Court show of November 1953. With an engine output of 10bhp from 199cc the Cub had a top speed of around 66mph. Production continued to 1968. Interest in the baby Triumph was heightened by the 1961 law that restricted learner riders to bikes of no more than 250cc.
