February 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 4

1971 Honda CB500 Four KO

Registration -

Chassis No. - CB500 1001334

M.O.T. -

Odometer - 7,800

Previously part of an American museum collection, this decidedly original CB500 KO has travelled a mere 7,800 miles in 51 years. It is considered by the vendor to have a ‘good’ four-cylinder engine, five-speed gearbox, frame and paintwork, and he confirms that a new exhaust system and nearside fork gaiter plus some light recommissioning are all that is required to bring this Honda back to the road and provide pleasure to a new keeper.

The CB500 Four reigned from 1971 to 1978. Powered by a transverse air-cooled, in-line, four-cylinder unit of 498cc, it had an output of 50bhp. In reviewing the 1972 model ranges, Motorcycle Mechanics described the CB500 as ‘one of the show stealers’ and said its performance was ‘equivalent to that of a 650cc twin’.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.

Estimated at £4,000 - £5,000
